Brief
“Find a genre, song or musical movement that best represents a cause and use typography to bring it to life.”
With the recent deaths of K-pop stars Sulli and Goo Hara, who both committed suicide due to the pressure of being a star in the limelight and constantly having to hold in their feelings.
I wanted to create work that would highlight these issues within the genre/industry of K-pop, spreading awareness about these issues through several mediums such as a website, merchandise and music.“Find a genre, song or musical movement that best represents a cause and use typography to bring it to life.”

Mental health has always been a topic of serious concern, especially in places like South Korea. “The country has one of the world’s highest rates of suicide, which is among the leading causes of death among people under 40. Taboos about mental illness prevent many people from seeking help.
I wanted my designs to help encourage people to not stray away from getting help for their problems.
NEVER GIVE UP - in blue text, is a central theme that is displayed throughout the project telling people to not easily give-up their own precious lives.
As my work is meant to be dealing with the issues in South Korea I have decided to include the Korean language; Hangul in and around my work.
The three words: PRESERVE, LEARN, LOVE feature heavily in Hangul.
